Nine Xiaomi phones to reach EOL (end-of-life) this November

Xiaomi released its Android-based MIUI 12.5 OS in December last year. The company is still sending its beta updates to introduce new features and changes ahead of official release. Meanwhile, it seems that some Xiaomi phones will no longer receive these updates.

According to the reports by Xiaomiui, nine famous Xiaomi phones, such as Mi 9, Redmi Note 8, etc have appeared on a shortlist of products that are reaching their end-of-life (EOL) and hence becoming the first Xiaomi phones that will not receive MIUI beta updates.

Reportedly, the internal development of beta software for these phones will stop from November 27. However, bug fixes and stable release updates may still be available for these phones.

Anyways, the list of these nine devices are as follows:

  • Xiaomi Mi 9
  • Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G
  • Xiaomi Mi 9 SE
  • Xiaomi Mi CC9 (Mi 9 Lite)
  • Xiaomi Mi CC9 Meitu Edition
  • Redmi K20
  • Redmi K20 Pro
  • Redmi Note 8
  • Redmi Note 8 Pro

All of the above-mentioned phones are still famous among smartphone users. Xiaomi Mi 9 was the company’s flagship phone of 2019. While the Mi 9 was originally released in March 2019, the Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro came out later that year, in August.

Xiaomiui also reveals to give Xiaomi users a relatively better experience in using the test version, the recent release plan is as follows:

  • September 27th-September 29th: The development version of the internal test is normally released.
  • September 30-October 10: The development version of the internal beta, the development version of the public beta was suspended.
  • October 11th (Monday): The development version of the internal beta, the development version of the public beta resume release.

Xiaomi New Update Policy:

Following the footsteps of Samsung, Xiaomi has recently announced that it will also be providing three major Android operating system updates and four years of security patches for its new smartphones.

So far, the announcement has only been made for the newly introduced Xiaomi 11T, 11T Pro, and 11 Lite 5G NE. We can not say whether the current Xiaomi phones will follow the new policy or not.
