Surpassing Apple, Xiaomi has now become the third-largest smartphone maker behind Samsung. Now the company is planning to enter a strongly competitive electric car market that also includes rivals Apple and Huawei.
Since the official announcement in March, Xiaomi has been in talks with several car manufacturers for a partnership but nothing has been materialized so far. However, recently, a report claimed that the tech giant is looking to acquire a stake in China Evergrande’s Electric Vehicle unit.

Meanwhile, a piece of new information on Xioami Car has again entered the network. According to a report by Kechuang Board Daily, Xiaomi could officially disclose its car sooner in the next week.
Moreover, a famous Weibo blogger, DigitalChatStation said that the Xiaomi New Energy team is doing it very quickly. In the past two days, they have been in contact with a world-renowned auto parts and emission technology supplier and are working on a design plan.
A Xiaomi executive even put a statement denying rumors of consulting with the China Evergrande Group to buy a 65 percent stake. The spokesperson further said that the company has talked with several carmakers but has not made any decision regarding any partnership for its electric vehicles business.
Besides this, recently, Lei Jun, the founder of Xiaomi took Weibo to share a new recruitment advertisement for its vehicle. The poster reveals that the company is hiring experts in the autonomous driving field for its own automobile unit.
Autonomous driving technology means self-driving technology for smart cars, which is based on a GPS system. Anyways, the recruitment ad was calling for 500 technical experts to join the “Xiaomi Autonomous Driving Department”.
