WhatsApp is getting more and more convenient for users around the world. Recently, WhatsApp started working on a new feature to easily transfer chats between Android and iOS. The upcoming update will make it possible for users to migrate chats to a new phone number.
Currently, if you change your number and register it on WhatsApp, you will lose all your previous chat, which means that your phone needs to have the same number for installing the backup.

Also, you won’t be allowed to restore the backup on other platforms even with the same number. Android backups can be renewed on Android smartphones only and iPhone backups can be restored on iPhones only.
So looking at the users’ convenience, the company started working on a new feature that will allow chat migration from iOS to Android and Android to iOS. However, the chat history will still be bound to your phone number.
The tipster, WABetaInfo also shared a screenshot that shows the feature from the iOS-Android migration tool. And, at the end of the screenshot, you can see an option that will allow you to transfer your chats to a new number.
At the same time, it also shows that you cannot start the migration at any time, once you skip the step, you won’t be permitted to restore the backup. Thus, if you want to install your backup, you will have to start restoring it just after the WhatsApp verification.
Well, the feature not just lets you restore the chats but will also migrate your media files to a different number. WABetaInfo has reported that the feature is currently under development for Android and iOS and should be available soon.
