After publishing kernel source codes for the recently launched Mi 11 Lite series, Mi 11 Ultra, and Mi Mix Fold last month, Xiaomi is following suit with the kernel source code release for Poco X3 Pro smartphones.

On March 22, 2021, Xiaomi’s sub-brand Poco has officially launched its new smartphone, Poco X3 Pro in global markets. Soon after the global release, the company has introduced it in India too. The new device features some of the amazing internals at a budget-friendly price.

In terms of software, it comes pre-installed with the Android 11 based MIUI 12 operating system. Also, it is eligible to receive MIUI 12.5 update, therefore, as soon as the new-gen MIUI arrives in India, Poco X3 Pro will receive the update.

Aside from this, kernel sources are one the cornerstones of a flourishing aftermarket community, allowing developers to build stable custom ROMs, kernels, and more. Every Android smartphone OEM is bound by the General Public Licence v2 (GPLv2) to publicly release the part of the Linux kernel code they shipped on their Android devices.

Each OEM has its own direction when it comes to fulfilling this necessary task. Some drop the sources on the very first day the smartphone launches, while some might take weeks or even months to do the same job.

However, there are no fixed rules regarding their release but ideally, you want an OEM to release the sources within the first few weeks of the device launch. Anyways, interested Poco X3 Pro users can review the kernel source code at Xiaomi’s GitHub repo by clicking on the link below.
