Qualcomm recently announced its new-generation chipset for flagship smartphones named Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Following the launch, several smartphone vendors named their phones that will be powering the chipset.
The Chinese tech giant Xiaomi also announced that its upcoming Xiaomi 12 smartphone with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip will be launching this month. It was expected that Xiaomi will introduce the first 8 Gen 1 powered phone. Notably, last year, Mi 11 become the world’s first device to equip Snapdragon 888 SoC.
While Xiaomi usually becomes the first to introduce Snapdragon’s latest flagship SoCs, it looks like Lenovo might be the one to beat this time.
Today, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun shared a new post on his official Weibo handle and said that the company is fast working on increasing the performance of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor along with the production of Xiaomi 12.
He further indicated that an initial launch is not just about showing “PPT skills” but it aims to live up to its commitment to its customers in providing a top-notch user experience with its upcoming flagships.
After this statement of Xiaomi, Lenovo General Manager Chen Jin also responded on its first Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 powered phone. Following his statement, the Moto Edge X30 featuring Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 will be launching on December 9.
