November 22: Redmi 8A October 2021 Security Update
Xiaomi released the October 2021 security patch along with a new firmware update to the budget Redmi 8A smartphones in India. The update comes with just the newer October 2021 security patch as part of further improving the system security.

You can easily check for the latest software updates by following the simple steps. It should be mentioned that this is a staged rollout and will not be available for all users, some should wait for a few days.
- Open Settings of your phone
- Go to System Updates
- Click on Download and Install
- Once installed, Restart your phone

August 7: Redmi 8A MIUI 12.5 Update
Xiaomi has already rolled out the MIUI 12.5 update for Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A Dual smartphones. Now the update is being sent to Redmi 8A in India. Along with several features and changes, the new firmware also brings July 2021 Android security patch.
When compared to the previous versions of MIUI, the MIUI 12.5 is faster, lighter, and durable. There will now be a few limits to what you can see on your screen as it comes with 20 times more rendering power.
Dynamic layouts bring the typography in Notes to a new level. The new gesture shortcut now allows you to create notes, tasks, and excerpts anywhere. Also, excerpts can now save text, URLs, and images to Notes in a few simple taps.
