WhatsApp releases new end to end encrypted backup feature for Android devices

In the recent development, WhatsApp is bringing a new end-to-end encrypted backup feature for Android devices. It aims to protect users’ privacy while restoring the chat history and media files.

The end-to-end encrypted backups feature will protect your backups from unofficial access while it is uploaded on Google Drive. It also allows you to keep a password for protecting your backup files that won’t be shared with WhatsApp, Facebook, or Google.

Moreover, the new feature will have an encryption key that only contains numeric digits and lower case letters between ‘a’ and ‘f’. It seems that WhatsApp wants to use hex format.

Update Version –

The new WhatsApp beta update can be identified via the build version 2.21.15.5. It should be noted that the Facebook-owned company is yet to roll out this feature for iPhone. Thus, iOS users will have to wait for more days or weeks.

Besides, as usual, this feature is currently only rolled out for Android beta testers and there are no words on its general release. Usually, the company didn’t take much time in releasing the update for general users. As soon as the update delivers it to the public, we’ll let you know. Till then, stay connected.
