Xiaomi releases kernel source codes for Redmi Note 10S

Just recently, Xiaomi released Kernel Source Codes for Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition. Meanwhile, now the company has released these codes for the Redmi Note 10S smartphone.

On March 4, 2021, Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi officially launched its new Redmi Note 10S smartphones in global markets. Also, the tech giant has set May 13 as the Indian launch date for the device. The new device features some of the amazing internals at a budget-friendly price.

In terms of software, when many flagships are still waiting for Android 11, the Note 10S has came pre-installed with it. Adding to this, we already know that the phone will run MIUI 12.5 out of the box in India.

What is Kernel Source Codes?

They are one of the cornerstones of a flourishing aftermarket community that allows developers to build stable custom ROMs, kernels, and more. Every Android smartphone brand is bound by the General Public Licence v2 (GPLv2) to publicly release the part of the Linux kernel code they shipped on their Android devices.

Each OEM has its own direction when it comes to fulfilling this necessary task. Some drop the sources on the very first day the smartphone launches, while some might take weeks or even months to do the same job.

However, there are no fixed rules regarding their release but ideally, you want a company to release the sources within the first few weeks of the device launch. But this time, Xiaomi is late for more than two months to release these codes for Note 10S.

Anyways, interested Redmi Note 10S users can review the kernel source code at Xiaomi’s GitHub repo by clicking on the link below.
