Here’s the list of Chinese devices that are not able to install Google Mobile Services (GMS)

Recently, we have come to know that some Xiaomi MIUI users are not able to install Google Mobile Services (GMS) on their respective Xiaomi phones. In response to this, the company’s answering team said, due to compliance reasons, the domestic version of MIUI does not support the installation of GMS by itself.

Following this, the company said, the information regarding GMS on Xiaomi phones was shared by an unofficial Xiaomi Community group. The news is just a rumor, the company is not blocking GMS installation.

Xiaomi further said that the GMS framework comes pre-installed on certain domestic smartphones but it will be not the case in the future. Also, the International version models are not affected.

Moreover, the new information claims that the removal of the ban on GMS from domestic mobile phones is due to compliance reasons. But from where this compliance reason comes is not clear yet, this is actually Google’s regulations.

If any Android device user wants to have GMS built in their smartphone, it must pass Google’s CTS/GTS compatibility certification. After the device passes Google’s CTS/GTS compatibility certification, GMS can be pre-installed and integrated into the Google ecosystem. For overseas markets, this is very important.

The ecology of Android phones is based on Google. Without GMS, it would be difficult to make progress. GMS is not provided by Google for free. Equipment manufacturers need to pay a fee and get Google’s authorization to build GMS into the system, otherwise, it is illegal.

Android devices can use AOSP for free, but the installation of GMS must be authorized by Google. In this respect, Android is not completely free. You can indeed use the open-source AOSP for free, but if you want to use GMS, sorry, please recharge first.

In order to increase the revenue of GMS, Google has placed more and more important features of Android in the GMS part, increasing the dependence of Android machines on GMS, so that Android is a completely free system, this view is not so rigorous.

But in China, the situation is very different. Due to well-known reasons, Google account-related services cannot be used in China. For the vast majority of domestic users, GMS is useless, and it will also bring negative experiences such as space occupation, additional heat, and resource consumption.

Many domestically-made machines are only sold domestically. If you pay Google for the tasteless GMS authorization, it is obviously not worthwhile. Therefore, many domestic machines have not obtained GMS installation authorization, but this brings another problem if some users need GMS.

Following is the list of Chinese Xiaomi devices that do not have GMS and are not able to install.

From Google’s official Google Play certified device list, we can see that some machines are authorized by GMS, but GMS is still forcibly deleted.
