Samsung releasing new Solve for Tomorrow Contest for students in US

Samsung is launching a new “Solve for Tomorrow competition” for American students. The competition challenges U.S. students in grades 6-12 to transform local communities through innovative, sustainable solutions using STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math).

This is the 13th annual competition of its kind, and this year Samsung’s program provides $2 million in supplies and technology (estimated retail value) to classrooms in each state. Public school teachers across the U.S. can apply to join the program between now and November 2, 2022, which will be rolled out in several phases once the November deadline is met.

The 300 state finalists will receive $2,500. The 50 state winners will receive a Samsung Video Kit for video development and $12,000 in classroom supplies and technology. Only one of the 50 state-winning schools will receive an additional $50,000 for winning the Sustainable Innovation Award.

Samsung Contest students USThe next phase will see 10 national finalist schools compete in front of a panel of judges. Seven national finalists will receive $50,000 worth of technology and supplies, and the remaining three finalists will receive a national award, including $100,000 in classroom technology and supplies.

One community from the top ten schools will be selected as the winner through an online public vote. Community selection winners will receive $10,000 in Samsung technology awards. Finally, Samsung will pick an employee to choose the winner to receive $10,000 worth of merchandise.

To date, Samsung has provided more than 3,500 U.S. public schools with classroom materials and technology worth $20 million since the inaugural Solve for Tomorrow competition was held in 2010.
