In August this year, Samsung officially released the 990 PRO PCIe 4.0 SSD. Now, this SSD has been listed on German Amazon and is expected to be shipped in mid-October. In terms of price, the Samsung 990 PRO 2TB is priced at 324.9 euros.

Samsung 990 PRO series products Samsung adopts new V-NAND technology and a newly launched self-developed controller, which can provide ultra-high speed in the PCIe 4.0 interface.
This SSD has sequential read and write speeds of up to 7,450 MB/s and 6,900MB/s, and random read and write speeds of up to 1,400K and 1,550K IOPS, respectively. Compared with the 980 PRO, the random read and write performance of the 990 PRO is improved by 55%.
Samsung says the 990 PRO with NVMe technology can reduce game load times on PCs and consoles, resulting in a more immersive gaming experience. Luminous Productions’ upcoming action role-playing game “Forspoken” supports a new game loading technology. When testing with this game, the loading time of the map was reduced to about 1 second, while the SATA SSD took 4 seconds, and the mechanical hard disk (HDD) takes 28 seconds.
In addition, Samsung’s newly designed controller greatly improves the energy efficiency of the SSD by up to 50% compared to the 980 PRO. Additionally, the 990 PRO features a nickel coating on the controller and tabbed heatsinks on the hard drives to ensure reliable thermal management. The 990 PRO (heatsink version) also provides an extra layer of thermal control, while it’s RGB lighting adds a stylish touch.
According to Samsung’s official news, the 990 PRO will be released globally in November this year. The retail price of the 1TB model is $179, and the retail price of the 2TB version is $309.
