Due to the difficulty of developing humanoid robots, the market is also curious about the core technology mastered by Xiaomi. On August 12, the Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily reported that Xiaomi and its affiliated companies have laid out more than 740 patents in the core technology fields of intelligent robots such as perception technology, machine learning, and motion control technology, including Invention patents, accounted for as high as 97%.

The report also said that these patents are mainly concentrated in related fields such as drones, unmanned driving, automatic cleaning, and natural language processing. In addition to robots, for the ongoing automotive field, the data from Wisdom Buds shows that Xiaomi Auto also has more than 120 patents, and the number of patent applications so far this year has exceeded 110. Wisdom Bud data also shows that Xiaomi and its affiliates have more than 2,600 patents related to autonomous driving.

A few days ago, Xiaomi once again focused on the disclosure of “model quantification methods, devices, vehicles and storage media”, “autonomous driving methods, devices, electronic equipment, and storage media”, and “auxiliary modules, charging assemblies and electric vehicles” and “car-to-car charging circuit”. , charging harnesses, charging systems and electric vehicles” and a number of autonomous driving patents.

Lei Jun also said in his annual speech that Xiaomi invested 3.3 billion yuan in the first phase of autonomous driving, and the size of the exclusive team has exceeded 500. At the same time, there are collaborative teams such as the artificial intelligence laboratory, the Xiaoai team, and mobile phone cameras. Xiaomi’s first phase of autonomous driving plans to have 140 test vehicles, which will be tested across the country one after another, with the goal of entering the first camp in the industry in 2024.

On July 1, Lei Jun also said that in the past five years, Xiaomi’s R&D investment has increased by more than 40% annually. In the next five years, R&D investment is expected to exceed 100 billion yuan, and new technological directions will continue to be explored.
