Xiaomi MIUI 13 is here! Xiaomi hosted a big event in China today. Along with several announcements, the company uncovered the most awaited MIUI 13. The latest Android-based custom UX arrived with a whole new UI, improved performance, privacy, and much more.

With MIUI 13, Xiaomi mainly focuses on improved security and compatibility with more devices such as TVs, smartwatches, smart home appliances, and XiaoAi voice assistant. In addition, for the first time, the company has introduced a specific tablet version named MIUI 13 Pad.

The new MIUI will start releasing for the first batch of its eligible devices by the end of January 2022. Along with Xiaomi’s latest Xiaomi 12 series smartphones, the update will first debut for Mi 11, Mi 11 Pro, and Mi 11 Ultra.

When considering MIUI 13 for the international market, Xiaomi hasn’t given any hint at this. Neither do they say whether the MIUI 13 is based only on Android 12 or will reach more devices with Android 11 as well?

What’s new in MIUI 13

Of course, Xiaomi MIUI 13 came with several improvements and changes over the MIUI 12.5. It arrives with new live wallpapers that showcase crystal formation. It also includes support for new widgets like “Super Countdown Day” and “Water Measuring Cup”.

Along with these animated wallpapers and new widgets that place better with the UI, MIUI 13 further brings a new font that enhances its overall beauty called MiSans. Mi Sans is filled with features, such as automatically adjusting the height of hyphens to uppercase and lowercase letters.

Moreover, as privacy is a significant concern for smartphone users, Xiaomi brought a three-step verification process. Following the watermark reading of the user’s ID, then the so-called “electronic fraud protection”, facial recognition is the base layer is facial recognition.
