Google’s Android 12 is about to make its debut next month. Ahead of the stable release, the company has rolled out the beta update for its eligible Pixel phones. Soon after the first beta release, several other OEMs started seeding their own official Android 12 beta to their devices.
Similarly, Xiaomi has also begun beta testing for its phones. This time with MIUI 12 in tow, as it tests its first MIUI 12 beta with Android 12 for the Mi 11. The tech giant has rolled out the Android 12 beta for Mi 11 smartphones in China only.

At the moment, we cannot clarify whether other Mi 11 series devices will receive these Android 12-based builds in the coming days or not. The unskinned Android 12 Beta was already released for the Mi 11 Ultra, and the Mi 11i/Mi 11X Pro/Redmi K40 Pro, so we’re hoping these builds for other Mi 11 phones.
Since this is a closed beta build, it targets the Chinese variants of the Mi 11, so you won’t find Google Play Services or any pre-installed Google apps inside them.
Moreover, when compared to the Android 11 based MIUI 12/MIUI 12.5 build, some features might be incomplete or missing in the Android 12-based build. Also, the language options are limited to Chinese and English only.
The update packages are regular recovery flashable zip files, but for beta testers authorized Mi accounts still need to sideload them. The update process of transitioning from one major Android version to another is utterly complex, thus, one should make a backup before they proceed.
