Xiaomi rests Redmi Note 10 due to chip shortage

You may have known about the global chip shortage situation. This shortage is highly affecting smartphone vendors, Xiaomi is one of them. Recently, Xiaomi Indonesia has announced that they have stopped the production of the Redmi Note 10 phones there.

The company is asking users to consider buying other models under the series, which include the Redmi Note 10 Pro, Note 10S, and Note 10 5G. However, there is no guarantee these models won’t sell out soon as well.

Well, Xiaomi hasn’t given any reason for this discontinuation, this is a CNBC report which states that the move had been taken due to the ongoing chip shortage.

Several companies worldwide are being affected by the shortage and the situation is expected to worsen. There is no doubt that this shutdown will soon spread to other markets.

Xiaomi is continuously increasing the price of Redmi Note 10 smartphones in India. So far, the device has received four price hikes of INR 500 and the fourth hike made it costlier than the Redmi Note 10S.

Not only the vanilla model, but the Redmi Note 10 Pro has also received two price hikes of INR 500. Xiaomi is the leading smartphone brand in India, not only Mi, but people also love Redmi and Poco smartphones there. And if the situation continues, it could affect Xioami’s rank there.

Whereas, regarding the price hikes, the company previously said that this is due to the increase in the price of supplies. As per industry experts, the cost of chipsets, battery packs, and others (camera modules, sensors) has increased by 20%, 10%, and 5%.
