Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 could sport UWB tracking support

Xiaomi’s upcoming Mi Mix 4 has just been spotted in a new leak. It is revealed that the smartphone will feature a UWB chip and will come with support for mmWave 5G.

Following the report, the silicon will be used by Mi Share, which is a peer-to-peer file transfer service by Xiaomi. The company might expand the usage of UWB once it launches more devices with a chip like Apple.

Moreover, UWB, a short-range high-precision radio technology allows for precise tracking, and you can find it on the latest Samsung and Apple flagships. But  Xiaomi currently doesn’t offer UWB support on any of its phones.

However, Xiaomi once showed off smart home controls using a prototype phone with UWB support and it seems that the company is now finally ready to ship a UWB radio on a commercial device.

Our sources also claim that Mix 4 will support Ultra Wideband 5G but haven’t seen solid evidence for this. In a recent press release from Qualcomm, Xiaomi did hint that it will launch a phone with mmWave 5G support, so this could be true.

Recently, the device has appeared in the TENAA certification database. The listing reveals that the phone will be available in two alternatives such as 8GB RAM + 256GB internal storage and 12GB RAM + 256GB internal storage.

However, the certification report doesn’t mention a higher version that is 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal memory. But the phone is expected to arrive with it, as it will be a flagship product.

Later the last month, we have seen the renders of Mi Mix 4, which revealed a secondary screen similar to Mi 11 Ultra. However recently, a Chinese tipster claims that the phone will feature triple rear cameras, without any secondary display.

He further said that the camera setup will include a 50MP Samsung GN1s primary camera. It will be equipped with 6.67 inches Huaxing Optoelectronics 1080p+ hyperboloid under-screen camera solution and Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ chipset.

Its 5,000mAh battery supports above 120W wired fast charging and around 80W wireless fast charging. When talking about its software, it has been informed twice that Mi Mix 4 will be debited with MIUI 12.5, instead of the expected MIUI 13.

Aside from these, the phone’s weight is 226g (using umcp5 flash memory) and its price will be nearly Xiaomi’s current high-end smartphone – Mi 11 Ultra.
