Beating Samsung, Xiaomi retained top spot in the Indian smartphone market in Q2 2021

A market research organization, Canalys has recently released the smartphone shipment report of the Indian market for the second quarter of this year. According to the report, Xiaomi has ruled the Indian market in the said quarter.

The company’s mobile phone shipments in the Indian market reached 9.5 million units, with a market share of 29%. Still, the firm ranks first in the market. Canalys said that the Redmi Note 10 series has promoted the growth of online sales of Xiaomi mobile phones.

Moreover, one of the tough competitors of Xiaomi, Samsung ranked second. It had 5.5 million shipments in the second quarter, with a market share of 17%. Whereas, Vivo, Realme, and OPPO with a market of 31%, 10%, and 13% ranked third, fourth, and fifth respectively.

On the other hand, in Q2 2021,  the market shipped around 32.4 million units of smartphones, which is a decrease of about 13% from the previous quarter. However, it increased significantly by 87% when compared to Q2, 2020.

Also, along with the natural growth, this year’s loose environment is an important reason for the rush in mobile phone shipments.

Global Smartphone Shipment Report Q2, 2021

Last week, Canalys released the records of global smartphone shipment in the Q2 of this year. As always, Samsung was the leading smartphone supplier in the market.

While surpassing AppleXiaomi has gained the second position for the first time in history. As per the report, Xiaomi witnessed a massive 83% year-on-year growth and a market share of 17%.

Canalys also reported that Xiaomi’s shipments in Latin America, Africa, and Western Europe have increased by more than 300%, 150%, and 50%, respectively. Reportedly, growing sales of its high-end devices such as the Mi 11 Ultra seem to be a major priority for Xiaomi this year.
