2021’s Xiaomi Mi 12 flagship could feature LTPO screen

In December 2020, Xiaomi officially launched its latest flagship smartphone, Mi 11. The company later expanded the lineup by introducing Mi 11 Ultra, Mi 11 Lite, and Mi 11 Pro. The series has three more smartphones – Mi 11i, Mi 11X, and Mi 11X Pro but these are the rebadged versions of the Redmi K40 lineup.

Moreover, the Mi 11 series is among the most popular smartphones preset in the market. Of course, after Mi 11, Mi 12 will take over the markets. And now, it seems that the company has started working on it.

Our folks over at Chinese media reveal that the Mi 12 series will continue to adopt the high-quality screen and will go a step further, using an LTPO adaptive refresh rate screen.

LTPO is a different OLED production technology. When compared to the previous-gen LTPS, LTPO has a faster screen response with less power consumption. It further supports a high refresh rate. Also, keeping the needs of high refresh rate and low power consumption, it can be switched on by itself according to the usage scene.

It is reported that Apple is also planning to use this technology for its upcoming iPhone 13 Pro series. But Xiaomi will be the first to mass-produce this technology. This will break all the fast charging records in the mobile phone market.

However, these are just leaks/expectations. Right now, there are no official words on this matter. We should wait for a little until any new information arrives.

Well, this isn’t surprising as Xiaomi always tries to bring new technologies. The Mi 11 Pro comes with support for 200W wired fast charge and 120W wireless fast-charge technology, which are able to charge the full smartphone in just 8 minutes and 15 minutes respectively.
