Twitter users can now join Spaces from desktop and smartphone

Spaces, Twitter’s Clubhouse-like social audio room was only possible to join from Twitter’s iOS and Android apps. Now the company has announced that starting from May 26, 2021, Spaces is more widely available.

As per the reports, users can now join it through desktop and mobile web browsers, which will make the company’s social audio room easier to use.

As per the tweet, the company mainly focused on three key feature to add it to its web platform. They are:

  • Infrastructure and listening UI that adapts to your screen size.
  • Setting reminders for scheduled Spaces.
  • Accessibility and transcriptions.

The company also shared a few screenshots that show the Spaces on the web. Among them, the first one shows what you’ll see before joining a Space. While the another shows a Space off to the side so you can continue scrolling through Twitter while you listen.

Well, there’s one big limitation with Twitter Spaces on the web at launch – you can join Spaces to listen in but you can’t host them yourself yet. However, you do get features like the ability to test out the new transcription design, plus you can set reminders to join a scheduled Space.
