Xiaomi is expanding the May 2021 Android security patch for Redmi Note 9 smartphones globally. Identified via the Android 10 based MIUI 12 version V12.0.8.0.QJOMIXM, the new firmware weighs 2.1GB.

The Chinese tech giant, Xiaomi has recently begun sending the latest May 2021 Android security patch to some of its eligible smartphones. So far only a few devices have received the update while many are about to.
Right now, the OEM has rolled out this update for Redmi Note 9 smartphones in India. As usual, the security update will save your phone from bugs and viruses and will improve the security of your device’s system.
Adding to this, it adds a new feature, after you update your phone, location info can be reported automatically before the device is powered off. Besides, no major changes have been mentioned in the changelog.
Moreover, the update carries the build version V12.0.8.0.QJOINXM. However, the current firmware is based on Android 10 based MIUI 12 OS but the Redmi Note 9 is eligible for Android 11 as well as MIUI 12.5. Thus, we believe that it will soon receive major software updates.
Anyways, the users can download the May 2021 security update for their Redmi Note 9 in approx 2.1GB of data. Since this is more than 1GB, we suggest, download and install it with an unmetered connection or Wi-Fi.
