Currently, the smartphones only supports up to 16GB of RAM. However, manufacturers aim to achieve this balance with less memory consumption instead of increasing the RAM capacity. Earlier Vivo and now Xiaomi has started to test the memory expansion feature.
The company can call it “expanding RAM” or “RAM Booster”. As the name suggests, it aims to increase the RAM capacity. It will allow smartphones to breathe more freely when working with resource-intensive applications, when part of the storage can be converted into RAM.

However, as per the report, this function will be active only when the smartphone starts to work at the limit of its capabilities. It is also not clear when it will come to Xiaomi smartphones.
Besides, lack of memory leads to regular freezes, whereas the typical behavior of the system is the crash of one of the applications when using several utilities. Hence, there are needs to solve the problem with the lack of memory.
