LineageOS 18.1 gets Android 11 for Xiaomi Mi Note 3

LineageOS is an open-source Android distribution. It is a popular custom ROM and the successor of CyanogenMod. LineageOS has its own standard to compete against other OEM’S Android variants such as OxygenOS, MIUI, EMUI.

LineageOS is not pre-rooted but CyanogenMod was pre-rooted. Although you can easily root LineageOS on your smart device. The list of devices officially supported by the LineageOS project is fairly long.

Developers usually take advantage of the open-source nature of the custom ROM and extend support officially/unofficially to many other devices. And, this is what exactly happened with Xiaomi Mi Note 3. This smartphone has now received an official LineageOS 18.1 build on top of Android 11.

Back in September 2017, Xiaomi Mi Note 3 step into the smartphone market with a pre-installed MIUI 9 based on the Android 7.1 (Nougat) operating system. Since then, Xiaomi hasn’t released a new Mi Note device in a few years now, but they’ve released multiple “Note” products under their Redmi brand.

Moreover, the Mi Note 3 received official updates to Android Oreo and Android 9 Pie, but that’s where OS upgrades have ended for the device. Whereas this LineageOS 18.1 build will fairly give Mi Note 3 users a taste of stable Android 10 and Android 11-based builds in case you’re still rocking one.
