Currently, the company has issued a new patent for a foldable phone with a tri-fold design. The patent for this upcoming foldable smartphone is similar to the leaked patent for Samsung Galaxy Fold 3.

By this, it is concluded that the phone has separate external and internal hinges, which will allow different ways to set up the phone. It has a flat but curved screen that can be bent in two directions. You can fold the device three times to make it more similar in size, although it is obviously much thicker than a normal smartphone.

Although, the main difference between this phone and Samsung’s tri-fold phone is the overall size. Samsung usually chooses slightly rounded corners, while Xiaomi devices use a sharper square design.

Xiaomi Tri-Fold Specifications

Last year, Xiaomi announced its flagship smartphone Mi MIX Alpha. However, the device has not been publicly sold. Last year, the company chose the Snapdragon 855+ chipset for Mi Mix Alpha, lagging behind the dominant Snapdragon 865 at the time.

It is assumed that Xiaomi Tri-Fold smartphones will be equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888. It can also be expected that the company may remove the 108MP sensor, which is one of its recent flagship products because this foldable screen will definitely increase the cost of its Bill of Materials (BOM).

Moreover, we hope that at least one camera can be a 64MP camera and can be used with a 48MP camera. The third one should be a low-resolution telephoto camera.

The expected price of Xiaomi Tri-Fold

Samsung and Motorola both picked the higher prices, but Xiaomi is generally known for making affordable devices. The company may choose a price close to the $ 1,000 barrier instead of the $ 2000 barrier used by Samsung and Motorola, although this can be difficult.
