Xiaomi patents two smartphones with a large display that extends from top and bottom to back

We have been hearing about Xiaomi’s foldable smartphones for a long time. Recently, we also reported that the company will launch three types of foldable smartphones this year.

Currently, two patent clips developed by LetsGoDigital show that Xiaomi is developing a surround display smartphone. We can say that it is an improved version of Mi Mix Alpha. The patent has two designs.

The difference seems to be the camera, which looks thinner than Mix Alpha. In addition, the entire device of the machine is composed of a screen, such as Meizu Zero, which proves that “the phone does not need a power button and interface.”

The first patent shows that large displays are continuously integrated from top to bottom. A vertical frame is installed there, which includes the camera system and has long sub-displays on both sides of the device.

Although, it is unknown whether these sub-displays also have touch sensors. Can display icons, effects, and animations. The device looks thinner than Mi MIX Alpha, and there is no room for the “power” button on the entire screen.

However, the camera configuration is still unknown. Since the phone has a display on the front and back, the camera can be used to take selfies and make video calls, as well as regular photo and video recording.

In the second model, the design is simpler. For example, this time, the upward and downward curvature is much larger. For the first model, a particularly fashionable oval shape was chosen, which will undoubtedly be more difficult to construct.

The width of the second model is also slightly wider, but the design is not that much. The patent shows a triple camera setup with three equal-sized lenses, similar to Mi MIX Alpha.

It is worth mentioning that Xiaomi also used a pop-up camera in the 360 surround display model last year, which is equivalent to the left and right surround version of the above design.

Of course, this is only a patent, and whether Xiaomi will release a similar model is still unknown. Although Xiaomi released the Mix Alpha surround screen phone in September 2019, it has never been publicly sold.
