Several media reports yesterday said that Zhou Xing, the former deputy general manager of SAIC-GM-Wuling Sales Company, will officially join Xiaomi Auto in August as the head of Xiaomi’s auto marketing, reporting directly to Lei Jun, chairman of Xiaomi Technology.

Industry analysts believe that Zhou Xun’s joining Xiaomi Auto means that Xiaomi Auto is progressing smoothly and has begun to deploy on the sales side. Zhou Zhen joined SAIC-GM-Wuling in 2011 and served in a number of key positions. In 2018, Zhou Zhen’s public identity was the director of the marketing center of SAIC-GM-Wuling Sales Company. Subsequently, due to outstanding performance, Zhou Xun was promoted to deputy general manager of SAIC-GM-Wuling Sales Company.
It is worth mentioning that Xiaomi’s 2021 annual performance report revealed that Xiaomi’s smart electric vehicle business has progressed beyond expectations, and the scale of the automotive business R&D team has exceeded 1,000 people.
In September last year, Xiaomi Technology Co., Ltd. announced that Xiaomi Automobile officially completed its industrial and commercial registration. The company is called Xiaomi Automobile Co., Ltd. with a registered capital of 10 billion yuan. The founder, chairman, and CEO of Xiaomi Group, Lei Jun, personally served as the legal representative.
On November 27 last year, the Management Committee of the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone and Xiaomi formally signed a cooperation agreement, officially announcing that Xiaomi Auto will be located in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone.
The official said that in the first five months of the announcement of the car’s construction, the Xiaomi Auto team conducted a lot of user research and industry chain inspections. It has a team of 300 people and continues to invite talents who are interested in the electric smart car business to join.
