At the end of last month, Xiaomi held a new product launch conference and officially launched the Xiaomi 12 series of mobile phones. The new device is equipped with CyberFocus all things tracking technology, which can identify a variety of subjects, control the camera to focus, and can also learn the characteristics of the subject and track the focus.

Zeng Xuezhong, senior vice president of Xiaomi Group and president of the mobile phone department, released “The Story Behind the Xiaomi Mi 12 Series: “Everything Follows the Focus”, and talked about how to think of integrating Tiedan’s technology into Xiaomi Mi 12.

According to reports, Xiaomi has done a lot of interview research in the early stage and found that many users want to use mobile phones to capture the beautiful “moments” of daily life, the rainbow after the rain, the sunset on the way to get off work, the bright starry sky, etc.; The cubs” run too fast and get blurred easily.

Zeng Xuezhong said that they thought from the “master following function” of Tiedan, optimized the algorithm of the master following function, and introduced the “CyberDog master tracking technology” in the Xiaomi Mi 12 series. This combination solves the problem of “clear background and blurred subject” in the autofocus of mobile phones and satisfies users’ needs for capturing pictures in scenes such as children, pets, and sports.

Xiaomi 12Moreover, the CyberFocus tracking technology is derived from the owner tracking technology of the Xiaomi robot dog CyberDog, which belongs to a category of computational photography technology, including high-precision human/pet model detection, human ReID technology, object feature self-learning technology, Lock the focus tracking object automatic determination technology, appearance recall technology, etc.

Through the “Focus of Everything” function, when the user double-clicks the detected object, the algorithm will automatically identify the boundary range of the object that the user wants to track and lock it. For example, when a cat is clicked, the traditional mobile phone camera will lock and click on a small part of the nearby area, such as the cat’s ear, while the “Focus on Everything” function can identify the entire cat and perform overall locking and tracking.

Zeng Xuezhong pointed out that the Xiaomi Mi 12’s all-things tracking algorithm will continue to “recognize” the object to be photographed while tracking, so as to ensure continuous tracking for a long time, and the subject can continue to track after returning from the frame.
