Xiaomi could be working on relaunch of four years old Mi 6

On May 25, Xiaomi has officially launched the 2021 variant of its famous Redmi Note 8 smartphone. Now it seems that the Company is going to launch a replica of the Xiaomi Mi 6, which was originally launched in 2017.

In detail, we know that recently Lei Jun, the CEO of Xiaomi revealed that there are still 2.15 million users of Mi 6 smartphones. On the post, a Weibo user made a comment, which reads –

“…the screen of the Xiaomi Mi 11 Youth Edition is a bit big. It is recommended to launch the Mi 6 replica, which feels perfect”. The interesting thing is that Lei Jun replied: “Received.”

Adding to this, a few days ago, Lei Jun asked users, “What do you like about Mi 6?” Small size? Snapdragon 835? 12MP camera? or Sleek Design? This has fueled widespread speculation that the company will launch a replica of the Xiaomi Mi 6.

There’s nothing not to believe that Xiaomi Mi 6 is a classic device. This smartphone is the last small screen device, which has a 5.15-inch screen before the giant screen madness.

It’s been four years since the launch of Mi 6 smartphones and the device is still being loved by people. 2.15 million is a significant number of users for a phone that is so old, most especially an Android one.

Xiaomi Mi 6 specifications:

Besides, a 5.15-inch display, the Mi 6 comes with a resolution of 1920×1080, a 3350mAh battery, Snapdragon 835 SoC, and more. In the camera department, this device uses a 12MP AI dual Photograph.

When we talk about its software, it came pre-installed with the Android 7 (Nougat) based MIUI 8 operating system. Currently, the device is running on Android 9 (Pie).

However, it could be possible that Mi 6 2021 will come with the internals of today’s generation, similar to the Redmi Note 8 2021 that has been recently launched with all new and advanced features except for the device’s look.

Android 11 for Mi 6:

The official Android 11 update for the Mi 6 isn’t possible. However, later in May this year, the smartphone has received an official LineageOS 18.1 build on top of Android 11. Alongside the standard Android 11 features, the LingeageOS 18.1 brings a number of new features and improvements to the table.
