Xiaomi reached 2nd spot for the first time in European smartphone market in Q1 2021

Recently, IDC has released the global smartphone shipment record of Q1 2021. According to the report, Xiaomi became the real winner in the global smartphone market even after ranking 3rd as it increases by 25.5% YOY.

Meanwhile now, Zeng Xuezhong, the vice president of Xiaomi Group and president of the mobile phone department revealed that Xiaomi surpassed Apple in the market share of smartphones in Europe in the first quarter. It has reached second for the first time in the European market.

The report further reveals that global smartphone shipments are increasing in the first quarter of 2021. In the quarter, global smartphone shipments reached 347 million units, a 27% year-on-year growth.

Globally, Samsung won first place with 76.5 million units shipped, accounting for 22% of the market. Apple shipped 52.4 million iPhones, accounting for 15% of the market. Sales of its iPhone 12 Mini were lower than expected, but the advantages of other iPhone 12 models and stronger demand for the old iPhone 11 helped it maintain its strong momentum.

Xiaomi set its best single-quarter performance in history, with an increase of 62% and shipments of 49 million units. OPPO and Vivo are in the top five, with shipments of 37.6 million and 36 million, respectively. Huawei now ranks seventh with 18.6 million units.
