Now, Xiaomi believes that this gaming phone will set a new record in the market. According to Lu Weibing, general manager of the Redmi brand, the Redmi K40 gaming version will sell up to 2 million units.

He concludes that the Redmi K40 gaming version sales will be at least the total sales of gaming smartphones last year. As of last year, the total sales of gaming smartphones hit 1.7 million units.

Besides, Lu Weibing thinks that there are several reasons for the current chip shortages. According to him, the production of 5G chips is one of the problems. He claims that the production capacity of 5G chips is about twice that of 4G chips. Also, the volume of 5G mobile phones is much faster than everyone’s forecast.

The second is the demand for smart cars and smart IoT devices. Smart cars consume a huge amount of chip production capacity. There may be millions of smart cars in the world this year. Of course, it will be very difficult to produce these cars due to the severe shortage of chips.

The third is the Covid-19 pandemic which caused a lot of people to stay at home. This has led to an increase in the demand for notebooks, TVs, Pads, cameras, and so on.
