Xiaomi is bringing a new product to make contactless payments via NFC (Near Field Communication) easy in India. This will work in tandem with its digital payments app Mi Pay.

The company recently announced that it will launch Xiaomi NFC Mi Pay straps for its smartwatches and Mi bands soon that will allow users to experience contactless payments at offline stores. For this, Xiaomi will be partnering with RuPay, RBL Bank, and fintech platform Zeta.

However, Xiaomi offers several smartphones that feature NFC for contactless payments, but the company is yet to introduce Mi Watch and Mi Band 6 with NFC support in India.

Meanwhile, the NFC-enabled watch straps will allow users to perform NFC functionality. These straps can be designed to be compatible with more than one wristwatch. It is likely that the NFC Pay Strap by Xiaomi will be compatible with its own watch offerings.

Moreover, once the straps are used on the watch, they won’t need any source of power to function. They can easily be tapped onto a point-of-sale device for making contactless payments.

Adding to this, these can even be configured to work in place of dedicated cards for a place, similar to the metro cards or tokens that we use in metros in the country.

So, the NFC-smart watch straps can easily be used to make such payments on the go, with just a touch of the wrist.
