South Korea plans to release L4 self-driving buses in 2025: Report
According to the latest report, the South Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism announced its mobile innovation roadmap on September 19. According to it, L4 autonomous buses are expected to be put into commercial use in 2025, and the same technology is expected to be used in private cars in 2027.

The ministry plans to commercialize L3 autonomous driving later this year, trailing only Japan and Germany. In addition, the ministry plans to launch the first Urban Air Mobility (UAM) service in South Korea in 2025.
The roadmap also mentions delivery robots for apartment complexes and urban areas, UAM services for Expo 2030 in Busan, and plans to designate dedicated highway lanes for autonomous vehicles for testing purposes in the first half of next year.
The ministry is also working on hyperloop technology to start logistics services at 800 to 1,200 km/h in 2040. Hyperloop passenger transport has not yet been included in the ministry’s roadmap.
