NASA reported yesterday that the Perseverance rover found a large amount of organic matter while investigating a rock sample in a delta, which will help to shed light on the existence of life on Mars. According to reports, these sedimentary rocks contain complex organic molecules called aromatic compounds, as well as sulfate minerals.

Mars Rover Perseverance Organic MatterNASA has also found organic matter on Mars before. In 2013, the Curiosity Mars rover found evidence of organic matter in rock samples. At the beginning of Perseverance’s landing, organic matter was also found, but compared with previous discoveries, the content of organic matter found this time is very rich.

According to reports, NASA needs to bring the samples discovered this time back to Earth before they can get more information. In 2026, NASA and the European Space Agency will launch two spacecraft to Mars, with which samples from the Perseverance rover will be sent to Earth in 2031.

Recently, the Perseverance rover brought a new image of Mars, which consists of more than 1,000 independent images with a total of 2.5 billion pixels, which is also the most detailed ever taken from the surface of Mars.
