The Boise plant is expected to be operational in 2025. Both factories will make DRAM chips, which are used in large quantities in data centers, personal computers, and other equipment. Once operational, the U.S. factory will account for 40 percent of Micron’s global DRAM production, up from just 10 percent today, CEO Sanjay Mehrotra said.
