Porsche plans to launch a pure electric Panamera to rival the AMG EQS

With the continuous development of electric vehicles, many traditional car companies are turning to electrification. Among them, Porsche released the pure electric Taycan in 2019. According to Porsche CEO Oliver Blume, Porsche will deliver more than 300,000 vehicles worldwide in 2021, of which 41,296 will be the pure electric version of the Taycan. The sales of the pure electric version of the Taycan even exceed the gasoline version of the Porsche 911.

According to electrek today, Porsche delivered 18,900 pure electric versions of the Taycan in the first half of this year, continuing its electrification process. To advance electrification, Porsche will release more electric models. According to Autocar UK, Porsche plans to launch a pure electric Panamera and a second-generation pure electric version of the Taycan, and both cars will be based on the Volkswagen SSP Sports platform.

The Volkswagen SSP Sport platform, developed by Porsche, has a lower cabin floor to help lower the vehicle’s center of gravity. At present, the pure electric Panamera is still in the early stage of development, which means that the pure electric Panamera will compete with the Mercedes-Benz AMG EQS, Lucid Air and other models Compete.

Moreover, Porsche CFO Lutz Meschke said in July this year that within the next two years, the profit margin of Porsche electric vehicles will reach the level of gasoline vehicles. At the same time, Porsche plans to achieve 50% of the company’s sales of electric vehicles by 2025 and 80% of Porsche’s sales by 2030.
