Ambani pointed out that Reliance Jio (a subsidiary of Reliance) 5G will be the largest and most advanced 5G network in the world. Unlike other carriers, his company will deploy 5G “standalone” networks that don’t rely on existing 4G infrastructure, meaning being able to fully exploit 5G’s potential for low-latency, high-capacity services.

In addition, Reliance Jio’s announcement today also includes a new service called Jio AirFiber, a gigabit home broadband solution that supports a plethora of real-world applications including interactive sports entertainment, metaverse, and virtual cloud computing. The company will also be the first telecom company in India to offer cloud services.

Last month, the Indian government conducted a 5G spectrum auction, and Reliance Jio became the largest buyer in the 5G spectrum auction, with a bid of $11 billion. Jio is also partnering with Google to develop a cheap 5G smartphone.
