Why Cyberpunk 2077’s next update could make night city’s metro better
Night City in Cyberpunk 2077 feels alive, but its metro system still needs work. When the game launched, players expected to ride the NCART trains, but they only got empty stations used for fast travel. Update 2.1 changed that by adding working trains across 19 stations on five lines. You can now ride them to enjoy the city’s sights, but it’s not perfect.

The experience is passive—you can’t walk around trains, talk to NPCs, or explore stations fully. A new update, possibly 2.3, could fix this. It might let players roam station platforms, meet random characters, or find small missions. Imagine stations with shops or fixers giving you jobs. Modders have already shown this is possible by adding more life to the metro, so the game’s developers could do it too.

A better metro would suit different play styles, especially for those who don’t like driving or want a calmer way to travel. It could also show Night City’s social divide—fancy stations for rich areas like City Center versus run-down ones in places like Pacifica. Improving the metro would make Night City feel more real and keep players hooked. It’s a chance to deliver on the game’s original promise of a living, breathing world.
