Why Black Ops 7’s reveal makes a Black Ops 2 remaster a must
The recent reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has fans buzzing, and it’s clear why: it’s a direct follow-up to Black Ops 2, bringing back key characters like David Mason and Raul Menendez. Set in 2035, the game continues the story from 2012’s hit, where David, son of Alex Mason, faced off against the cunning Menendez. This connection makes now the perfect time for a Black Ops 2 campaign remaster.

Black Ops 7’s trailer, shown at the Xbox Showcase, slowly built excitement before revealing David Mason, tying it closely to Black Ops 2. Since it’s been 13 years, many new fans may not know the original story, and even longtime players might need a refresher on its complex plot. A remaster would help everyone catch up, making Black Ops 7’s story hit harder.

In 2020, Modern Warfare 2 got a campaign-only remaster for $20, which fans liked despite skipping multiplayer. A Black Ops 2 remaster could follow suit, updating its gripping campaign with fresh visuals and smoother gameplay. The story’s multiple endings and choices, centered on David and Menendez, would feel right at home with Black Ops 7’s co-op campaign. With Treyarch and Raven Software crafting this sequel, a remaster would bridge the gap for fans old and new, ensuring the Black Ops legacy shines.
