Trump supports inspectors for Iran’s nuclear sites
President Donald Trump recently stated he supports sending inspectors to check Iran’s nuclear facilities after last weekend’s bombings. Speaking on Friday, he suggested that experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency or another trusted group should visit the sites to assess the situation. This comes after U.S. airstrikes targeted three Iranian nuclear locations, aiming to disrupt Tehran’s nuclear program.

Trump’s comments follow a tense 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran, which ended with the U.S. strikes. He also responded strongly to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, criticizing his remarks and abandoning plans to ease sanctions on Iran. Trump warned that if Iran continues enriching uranium to dangerous levels, he might consider further military action.

However, a U.S. intelligence report suggests the strikes only delayed Iran’s nuclear program by a few months, not years, as Trump had hoped. The White House called this assessment “wrong,” showing tension between Trump and intelligence officials. Iran insists its nuclear work is for peaceful purposes, but global concerns remain about its enriched uranium stockpile.

Trump’s push for inspections aims to ensure transparency, but his distrust of intelligence reports and combative tone signal ongoing challenges in U.S.-Iran relations. Meetings between U.S. and Iranian officials are planned for next week to discuss possible agreements, though Trump doubts a formal deal is needed.
