Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 5 and S22 series test new One UI 8 software update
Samsung is working on a new software update called One UI 8 for its Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy S22 series. Recently, the U.S. versions of these phones were spotted on Geekbench, a testing tool, running this upcoming update based on Android 16. This shows Samsung is making good progress in preparing the software for older devices.

The update is already being tested on newer phones like the Galaxy S24, but now the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy S22+ are also in the testing phase. While only U.S. models have been seen so far, the update is expected to reach other regions soon after its official launch. Samsung plans to roll out One UI 8 to eligible devices around August or September, likely after the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 debut in July.

For the Galaxy S22 series, this will be the last major software update. Unfortunately, it won’t bring many exciting new features, focusing instead on small improvements and better performance. The official list of changes for One UI 8 is short, which might disappoint some users. Still, Samsung’s effort to support older devices like the S22 shows its commitment to keeping phones up to date.
