Samsung Electro-Mechanics has started producing and supplying silicon capacitors to Marvell Technology, a major U.S. company focused on AI chips. This partnership, which began in early 2025, aims to compete with Nvidia, the leading name in AI chip technology. Silicon capacitors are tiny components that help stabilize power and improve signal flow in chips, making them faster and more reliable.
This is crucial for AI systems that process large amounts of data quickly.
At CES 2025, Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ CEO, Jang Deok-hyeon, announced they’ve secured two major clients for these capacitors and aim to generate over 100 billion won (about $75 million) in sales within one to two years.
This move is part of Samsung’s broader strategy to advance technologies like silicon capacitors, all-solid-state batteries, and glass substrates, as showcased in their “Mi-RAE” project at CES 2024.
By teaming up with Marvell, Samsung is strengthening its role in the U.S. AI chip market.
This collaboration could shape the future of smart devices and high-performance computing, as demand for AI technology grows. Samsung’s efforts signal a bold push to challenge Nvidia’s dominance in the fast-evolving AI industry.
