Samsung boosts Foldable phone push in US as S25 Edge sales lag
Samsung is changing its strategy for 2025, focusing more on foldable phones in the US due to slow sales of the Galaxy S25 Edge. The company is aiming to sell 600,000 foldable units in June, up from its earlier goal of 400,000, to meet demand and avoid potential US tariffs. Despite global challenges for foldable phones, the US market still shows interest. The Galaxy Z Flip7 and Z Fold7 will keep their prices at $1,099 and $1,899, even with tariff concerns.

Samsung has cut production for its Galaxy Z7 series, planning to make 1.34 million units in June, including 550,000 Z Flip7, 160,000 Z Flip7 FE, and 630,000 Z Fold7. This is lower than previous targets, reflecting weaker demand for foldables worldwide. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S25 series, launched in January 2025, is performing steadily, with the S25 Ultra leading sales.

However, the S25 Edge has struggled, prompting Samsung to reduce its production. The company plans to make 37.4 million S25 series units, a 7% increase from the S24 lineup, and may replace the Plus model with an Edge version in the 2026 S26 series. Samsung’s shift to foldables in the US aims to offset S25 Edge challenges and capitalize on a market still excited about innovative phone designs.
