Samsung’s One UI 8.0 update, based on Android 16, brings a fresh tweak to the camera app for Galaxy users, making it easier to snap photos and videos. The update introduces a new swipe gesture to access camera controls quickly, simplifying how you adjust settings on the go. This builds on the redesigned camera app from One UI 7.0, which moved settings to a cleaner, less cluttered layout at the bottom of the screen.
With One UI 8.0, you can now swipe up or down on the camera view to pull up quick controls like flash, timer, or resolution. This replaces the default vertical swipe that switches between front and rear cameras. To set it up, go to Camera Settings, find “Swipe up or down,” and choose “Open quick controls.” If you prefer the old way, you can turn the swipe feature off and stick to horizontal swipes for camera modes.
This change makes the camera app more user-friendly, letting you tweak settings without digging through menus. The update focuses on smoother, faster interactions, perfect for capturing moments on the fly. One UI 8.0 is currently in beta for Galaxy S25 devices, with a stable release expected in July or August 2025 alongside the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 launch.
