The Nothing Phone (3) is set to have the best software support of any Nothing device yet, offering up to seven years of updates. This makes it a strong choice for those who want a phone that stays fresh for years.
The phone will run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip, which has sparked some debate since many expected a more powerful processor. However, Nothing’s co-founder, Akis Evangelidis, explained that this chip allows for longer support.
With the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, the phone will get five years of major Android updates and seven years of security patches. This is a big step up from earlier Nothing phones, like the Phone (2), which only gets three years of updates, or the Phone (3a) series, which offers three Android updates but six years of security fixes.
Compared to competitors, Nothing’s support is solid but slightly behind industry leaders like Samsung, which provides seven years of both Android updates and security patches for some devices. Nothing’s updates may also arrive every two months, and major upgrades could take a bit longer to roll out.
The Nothing Phone (3) launches on July 1, promising a “true flagship” experience. With long-term software support, it’s shaping up to be a reliable and future-proof option for Android fans.
