New Windows 11 test version build 27881 for canary channel released
Microsoft has rolled out Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 27881 to the Canary Channel for testers. This early version brings a few tweaks and fixes, but no new software kits will be released for the 27xxx series builds yet.

What’s Fixed

This update tackles several bugs to improve the experience. It fixes an issue where high-quality audio devices, like those using 192Hz with multiple channels, weren’t playing sound properly. The startup sound, when turned on, now plays as expected. Voice typing works better with the Chinese (Simplified) narrow touch keyboard layout.

The touch keyboard’s symbol section no longer adds unwanted characters in password fields when switching pages. Screen scaling and window positions stay consistent after waking from sleep on some devices. Voice access no longer freezes with a “working on it” error during dictation. Lastly, an error in the Group Policy Editor’s Administrative Templates has been resolved, though a full fix is still in progress.

Known Issues

There are two reported problems. If you join the Canary Channel on a new Copilot+ PC from another channel or retail, you may lose Windows Hello PIN and biometric sign-in options. You can set up a new PIN by selecting “Set up my PIN.” Also, the taskbar might not show its acrylic design after upgrading.

About the Canary Channel

Canary Channel builds a test early platform changes, which may not make it to a final Windows release. These builds can be unstable, so they’re best for tech-savvy users eager to try new ideas and share feedback.
