Google is making the Gemini app on Android easier to use with a new sidebar menu, similar to the web version. This update improves how you navigate the app and access its features.
Before, the top-left corner had a “chat” button that showed your five most recent chats and Gems. To see more, you had to tap through to another page. Now, a hamburger button opens a handy sidebar.
It starts with a “New chat” option, followed by two of your latest Gems and a link to “Explore Gems.” The sidebar also includes a “Recent” section with endless scrolling, so you can easily find older conversations. Pinned chats appear at the top for quick access.
This sidebar is available even when you’re in a chat or on most other pages in the app, making it super convenient to jump between features.
The update mirrors changes made to the web version in early May, bringing a smoother and more consistent experience across platforms.
This small but smart change makes the Gemini app feel more user-friendly. Whether you’re starting a new chat or checking past ones, the sidebar keeps everything within reach. Expect this update to roll out soon, enhancing how you interact with Gemini on your Android device.
