Apple’s latest iOS 26 beta hides a fresh ringtone, a new spin on the familiar Reflection tone used since the iPhone X launched in 2017. Discovered in the beta’s code, this alternate version, called “ReflectionAlt1-EncoreRemix,” isn’t available in the Settings app yet. It’s unclear if Apple will include it in future betas or save it for the iPhone 17 release later this year.
The ringtone was first shared on X by user @8810cfw
and later reposted by ShrimpApplePro, with MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris confirming its existence.
Separately, iOS 26 makes setting custom ringtones simpler. You no longer need GarageBand—just pick an MP3 or M4A file (under 30 seconds) in the Files or Voice Memos app, tap Share, and select “Use as Ringtone.” The track then appears in Settings under Sounds & Haptics.
However, Apple Music songs can’t be used for free, and Apple still sells 30-second ringtones for $1.29 via the iTunes Store.
The iOS 26 beta, available to developers now, brings a sleek Liquid Glass design and new features for Messages, Safari, and more. A public beta is coming in July, with a full release expected in September alongside new iPhones. Be cautious with early betas, as they can be buggy.
