Google Messages is rolling out exciting updates to improve your messaging experience on Android. One of the biggest additions is the “Delete for Everyone” feature, now widely available for RCS group chats. If you send a message by mistake, you can long-press it, tap the trash icon, and choose to remove it from everyone’s chat within 15 minutes.
This works only if everyone in the group uses the latest Google Messages version, or the message might still show up for some.
Another handy feature is “Snooze Notifications.” By long-pressing a chat on the app’s main screen, you can pause notifications for 1 hour, 8 hours, 24 hours, or always. This is great for muting busy group chats without others knowing. To turn notifications back on, just long-press again and tap the clock icon.
Google is also upgrading group chats with custom icons, letting you personalize them instead of seeing tiny avatars. You can now check which contacts have RCS enabled before starting a chat, making it easier to use advanced features like reactions.
Plus, a new “Unsubscribe” button helps you stop unwanted SMS or RCS spam from businesses.
These updates, announced in June 2025, are rolling out slowly, with some already in beta testing. They bring Google Messages closer to apps like WhatsApp, offering more control and privacy for users.
