A recent leak about MediaTek’s upcoming Dimensity 9500 chip has tech fans buzzing. The chip appeared in a Geekbench test, revealing some interesting details about its performance. It uses a 1-3-4 core setup, with one main core running at 3.23 GHz, three cores at 3.03 GHz, and four cores at 2.23 GHz. These speeds are lower than the Dimensity 9400, which has a similar core layout but hits 3.62 GHz.
Experts think this is because the chip is still in early testing, and final versions might see a boost.
The Dimensity 9500 also features a new Mali-G610-Ultra GPU, a shift from the usual Immortalis GPUs in MediaTek chips. In the OpenCL test, it scored 15,703, hinting at strong graphics power. Compared to the Dimensity 9400, which scored around 9,600 in multi-core tests, the 9500 could reach over 11,000, showing a big jump in performance.
MediaTek’s current flagship, the Dimensity 9400 Plus, has a single core at 3.73 GHz, pushing close to 4 GHz. The 9500 is expected to compete with Qualcomm’s next Snapdragon Elite chip, promising a fierce battle in 2025 flagships. While these early results are exciting, we’ll need to wait for more tests to see the chip’s true strength. Brands like Vivo and OPPO might use it in their next big phones, launching later this year.
