Google Meet is rolling out a new design called Material 3 Expressive, joining apps like Gmail and Messages. This update is smaller than others but brings a modern, user-friendly feel to the app.
On the home screen, past calls now sit in neat boxes with rounded corners, giving a clean and organized look. Profile pictures are bigger, making it easier to spot contacts.
The search bar, side menu, and “New” button stay the same, and settings haven’t changed either.
The biggest tweak comes on the pre-call screen, where the voice and video call buttons are now super large. These oversized buttons make starting calls quick and simple, though they might feel a bit too big compared to the rest of the screen.
Earlier this year, the in-call interface got a similar update with a handy toolbar for controls, already showing off this expressive style.
These changes are starting to appear in version 310 of Google Meet for Android but aren’t fully available yet. The new design keeps things familiar while adding a playful, bold touch to make using Meet more engaging. Stay tuned for more updates as Google continues to refresh its apps with this lively look.
