Google’s Gemini app is getting a cool update that makes it even more useful. Now, you can upload your videos to the app and ask questions about them. This is in addition to the ability to paste YouTube links and get answers about those videos. The new feature is rolling out for both free and paid users on Android and iOS, but it’s not available on the web version yet.
With this update, you can add a video to your prompt, just like you can with documents or images. Once uploaded, Gemini analyzes the clip and lets you ask questions about it. For example, you could upload a video of a Google Nest Hub and ask what time is shown on the screen. Or, you might share a video of a forest path in autumn and ask for a description. Gemini would reply with details, like noting the colorful leaves and winding trail.
The video player in the app lets you rewatch the clip while chatting with Gemini. This makes it easy to follow along and ask more questions. The update also includes a new navigation drawer and the stable release of Gemini 2.5 Pro, which boosts the app’s performance.
This video upload feature makes Gemini more versatile, letting you explore and understand your videos in a fun, interactive way. Keep an eye out for it on your phone soon.
